Distributed RFID Tag Storage Infrastructures
نویسندگان
چکیده
We leverage increasing passive RFID tag memory to propose distributed RFID tag storage infrastructures (D-RFID stores). A D-RFID store is a large set of tags with significantly sized re-writeable storage. Interrogators interact with D-RFID stores by reading from and writing to tags, providing a wide range of possible applications that are otherwise resource-inefficient. Examples include tagging trees in a forest to track hikers, interactive smart posters to provide location-based social interaction and collaboration, and tags transporting digital information in situations where reliable network connectivity is not available. We propose a system architecture for D-RFID stores by describing the tag distribution in space and time, different storage structures, and the middleware linking the different components together. We also describe assurance in our system. We motivate D-RFID stores through examples and describe potential avenues of research.

Smart environments and wearables will make the storage and subsequent sharing of digitized multimedia diaries and meeting protocols – whom we meet, or what we say or do – cheap and easy. However, controlling access to this data will become cumbersome if traditional forms of access control are to be used: Overly restrictive rules might deny the potential of data sharing, while a lack of control ...

RFID tags can store more than just a tag ID. Data on an RFID tag can be updated through local processing. This is in contrast to the EPC global standard of data-on-network. The research study explores how much data can be stored on an RFID tag. The scope of this study is to find a suitable data format for data stored in the tags. Two data formats viz CSV and XML along with compression technique...

With the emerging mass production of very small, cheap Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, it is becoming feasible to deploy such tags on a large scale. In this paper, we advocate distribution schemes where passive RFID tags are deployed in vast quantities and in a highly redundant fashion over large areas or object surfaces. We show that such an approach opens up a whole spectrum of po...
